While nights are still chilly, the days out here have relentlessly revealed an ever changing panoply of green. May is your last best chance to easily get into your favorite restaurants before the seasonal crush. We’ve finished building our new raised-bed vegetable garden and Ann is already hard at work planting her first lettuce crop. The beaches are beckoning, the shops are burgeoning. In all of our decades out east, we’ve never seen The Hamptons more verdant or vibrant. How lucky are we? |
Everyone is out and about in their classics. How about this 1955 Willy’s Jeep we saw on Main Street in Sag!?!?! |
No one is quite sure of what to make of the rental market this year. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to what rents and what sits. The high end of the market was robust for a moment but seems to have cooled. One thing for sure is that the days of “Everything rents sooner or later,” are over. Buyers and Sellers, Owners and Tenants, remember you heard it here: "When it comes to The Hamptons Rental Market, not just 'Spring' but 'Change' is in the air." |

As promised, we completed our new raised-bed vegetable garden just in time for Ann to plant her early lettuce crop.

Our menagerie of streaming channels have just about brought us to our knees. How in the world does anyone keep track of what to watch where?!?!?! But every once in a while, something stands apart and demands our attention. That’s how we feel about WE WERE THE LUCKY ONES on HULU (We’re pretty sure!). This is an emotional story about how one Jewish family struggles to survive and reunite after being separated in World War II. Adapted from a book by Georgia Hunter, this series will touch you….guaranteed. (Click here to see the trailer)

Not only is this Hulu series guaranteed to touch you, we’re proud to share with you that our nephew, Tommy Kail, was both Executive Producer and Director.

We rarely send our Hamptons friends “off campus” but just last week we read a review of Il Giardino in Aquebogue in our bible, DAN’S PAPERS, and realized that our old friend John Gambino was captaining what sounded like the Italian Restaurant of our dreams..
One phone call found us on our way to a night to remember. After hugs all around, we sat down with dear friends for the best “Red Sauce Italian” dinner we can remember. John came out of the kitchen in his starched whites to check on us three times…..no need to worry, the service was attentive and cheerful. He even grows his own herbs and vegetables on the restaurant grounds! (Click here for directions, menu and more.) |

Our old friend John Gambino’s IL GIARDINO in Aquebogue is worth the drive. The best “Red-Sauce Italian” on the East End.

The Eleanor Whitmore Childhood Center in East Hampton is, once again providing a summer program for toddlers, “CAMP WHITMORE” making it possible for their hard-working parents to be……..hard working. Everyone is aware of how difficult it is to keep the Hamptons humming, when housing for the support population is so challenging. But childcare is equally difficult. It takes a lot of generosity to help take the pressure off these wonderful families. Please join us in supporting The Eleanor Whitmore Center….especially during the challenging summer months. If you’re lucky enough to call the Hamptons “Home,” this is a wonderful way to give thanks. (Click here to learn more about the program and how you can help.) |
