Children's Halloween Parade

Venice MainStreet and the Venice Lions Club invite families to the Children’s Halloween Parade on October 31 at 4:30 pm in Centennial Park. Show off costumes in the lively parade down West Venice Avenue starting at 5:00 pm. Over 500 children will receive candy treats from Lions Club members, followed by trick-or-treating at participating locations.

Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe

Once On This Island, October 11 – November 19. Transport yourself to a Caribbean island with this Tony award-winning musical that will captivate and thrill you. Follow the journey of a young peasant girl as she embarks on a quest for love and her sense of belonging. This expansive production, inspired by Rosa Guy's novel "My Love, My Love," pulsates with Caribbean rhythms and instruments, while addressing complex societal themes including race, class, and matters of the heart.

Manatee Performing Arts Center

The Rocky Horror Show opens October 19. This musical is a comedic homage to the science fiction and horror B movies from the 1930s to the early 1960s. It follows the tale of an engaged couple who find themselves stranded in a storm and seek refuge at the home of an eccentric scientist named Dr. Frank-N-Furter. There, they encounter his latest creation, "Rocky," a Frankenstein-like muscle man who is artificially created and physically flawless.

Let’s Murder Marsha October 18 – November 5. Marsha, a cheerful housewife with a passion for murder mysteries. She overhears her husband and an interior decorator planning her birthday surprise but misinterprets it as a plot to kill her. The regional premiere of The Sound Inside begins on October 20. Bella Baird, an isolated creative writing professor at Yale, finds an unexpected connection when she mentors Christopher, a brilliant yet mysterious student. Their lives and the narratives they craft about themselves become intricately woven together, leading Bella to make a request of Christopher that leaves them both uncertain about its feasibility.
