FEBRUARY...
You may have noticed our newsletter has a whole new look. But it’s still “us,” so read on. If you’re lucky enough to have a home in The Hamptons, then February is the perfect time to plan your gardens. We’re currently hard at work redesigning our raised-bed vegetable garden. When we first put spade to soil eight years ago, our idea was to have a storybook garden, just perfect to teach our grandchildren the joys of gardening and the thrill of hand picked tomatoes, peppers, basil, beans, scallions, parsley, and more. |
|
Our storybook garden
They all learned to love it, but so did we. So this year we’re rebuilding bigger and better, incorporating everything we’ve learned along the way. And therein is our message to you all. With gardening, as with life, the milage counts. It’s what you learn along the way that turns you into the gardener you are today. (OK, that may be a corny metaphor, but we’re about to build a garden for the ages!) We’ll keep you posted with plans and pix……stay tuned.

A ROSE BY ANY OTHER NAME.... |
We’re thrilled to report here that Rowdy Hall is still Rowdy Hall. This Hamptons staple didn’t change its name, but it did pick up and move lock stock and barrel to Main Street in Amagansett, from its decades old hideaway in East Hampton. Our first excursion to their new digs eased our concerns that something would be lost in the transition.
We entered a lively, well lit pub that instantly felt like home. Mark Smith and his team are the best of the best. Every single dish lived up to our hopes (and expectations.) They may have planted their flag a few miles to the east, but have no doubt created what is sure to be a Hamptons landmark for decades to come.

Wasn’t it a pleasure to read something about Rowdy Hall that didn’t mention black paint?!?! |

BOY ARE WE ON TOP OF IT! (Sometimes.)

Jeremy Allen White from THE BEAR
|
We’re patting ourselves on the back now that THE BEAR and its leads Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach swept the awards show circuit of the Emmy’s, Critics' Choice, and Golden Globes. |
We’ve been touting this show since it first premiered two years ago…… and it has since found its place in the firmament. (No, we’re not suggesting cause and effect!) But if you haven’t tuned in yet then you’re in for a wild ride. The kitchen scenes are so intense, you’ll swear you can feel the heat. You’ll find it on HULU and you’ll be glad you did. Bradley Cooper as MAESTRO
|
|
THAT SAID……..Last month we predicted that Bradley Cooper’s MAESTRO would shine thru. Both he and the picture have since been snubbed, and snubbed, and snubbed and snubbed So much for our “unerring taste” in entertainment!!!!!

...by now that Ann’s dedication to The Ellen Hermanson Foundation has found her elevated to Vice-Chairman of the Board of this amazing organization. Well, their decades of support of women with breast cancer and The Southampton Hospital have paved the way for Dan’s Papers to acknowledge the foundation as the “Best of The Best for 2023.” Julie Ratner has indeed created an enduring legacy for our community. Life Without Apple Support????
|
|
Those of us that are lucky enough.... ...to call The Hamptons “Home” count our blessings that we also are lucky enough to have GeekHampton here to support us, winter, spring, summer, and fall. After all, it’s FaceTime, ZOOM, and all the rest that help us stay connected to the real world from our Hamptons perches, and it’s rare for a community of our size to have this level of expertise right here in our midst.
Sheryl and her amazing team have saved us and our friends and clients countless times. Maybe best of all is the fact that they don’t sell iPhones, so you never have to wonder if they’re trying to get you to trade in for the latest and greatest. They only have one mission….to make sure that you’re up and running and good to go with all your technology needs. This may sound like we’re “Promoting” GeekHampton, but the truth is, we’re simply trying to thank them for all they do, day in and day out. How lucky are we!
(By the way, it’s Sheryl who introduced us to Ryan Salinetti, the brilliant web/graphic designer that has given our newsletter this wonderful fresh new look….hope you like it!) |
