NEW . . . NOW . . . NEXT . . . NEW. New construction emerges as the driving force in Hamptons real estate. While the press relentlessly focuses on dwindling inventory, it seems as if every builder has put every shovel they have into every lot they could find. The result is not just many new builds, but the unveiling of homes designed and built for the newly enlightened four-seasons mentality. This is a real sea change for The Hamptons. NOW. Now, right now, we are encouraging people that are ready to move on to list their homes this spring, as they will achieve the highest price in decades…..often by as much as 20%. NEXT. And the next wave to look out for is the fleet of bulldozers it’s going to take to handle all the tear-downs we see coming over the horizon. Too many dated homes on so many fabulous lots. Which brings us back to NEW. And as always, Real Estate out here goes round and round. |

We can no longer deny that winter is upon us. So you’ll find us several nights a week at our absolutely favorite winter haunt, M.J. Dowling on Noyack Road, just down from Cromer’s market. We hesitate to keep talking about it for fear that it will be “discovered” by the rolling restaurant crowd, in that the mix of local families and hardworking people are part of what give “Dowlings” its warm and comfortable un-Hamptons personality. The menu is broad and deep and it delivers. The french fries are the best in the Hamptons. There are specials every night and even the occasional open mike.
We’re ALMOST glad it’s cold outside. Click Here To Check It Out |

Some years ago, as the winter freeze subsided “Ice dams” caused extensive damage to our roof and interior ceilings. The insurance company told us to find a sixty-day safe harbor while repairs were completed that summer. Soon we were ensconced in one of Sara Jessica Parker’s extra beach houses. While we never actually laid eyes on our host….just like that we adopted her as our make-believe new best friend. Which brings us to our new favorite show. If you haven’t heard, our “best friend” is starring in a sequel to the show that made her an American icon. “AND JUST LIKE THAT ” on HBO, picks up twenty years later in the lives of Carrie Bradshaw and the gang. Yep, they got older…..just like that. Talk about a guilty pleasure!

Our six year old grandson, Noah, has recently taught us that 785 million people around the world lack access to clean and safe drinking water. And that women and girls are responsible for water collection in most of those homes. He rounded up the whole family and challenged us to support CHARITY: WATER. If you’re lucky enough to be part of our Hamptons community, then please be caring enough to join the Noah Green team at CHARITYWATER.ORG |
